Much more information can be found at the The Birkenhördt Project website if one wished to go back more generation following the Tuchscherer ancestor line. This is a major project in that they are "committed to documenting all genealogical relationships in the Southern Palatinate (Districts of the Südwestpfalz and the Südliche Weinstraße) and the French district of Bas-Rhin. We also document the emigrants from this area and their descendants in the country of immigration." http://www.birkenhoerdt.net/.
The area referred to is an area in eastern France and across the Rhine River in Germany.
Below are some screen shots from the project that refer to some ancestors listed above. All the names are clickable at the site and take you to the page for that person. Also much more there.

Maria Elizabeth Tuchscherer.
The Wachtels are included here because they are now in the Tuchscherer ancestry because George Wachtel married Elizabeth Tuchscherer.

John Tuchscherer and Anna Catherine Mehling (aka Moehling) (the great grandparents of the generation of Donald Wachtel. b.1935)
Johannes George Tuchschere and Katherina Reichert (the great, great grandparents of the generation of Donald Wachtel)
One more. This ancestor is not listed in the text at the top. Johannes Martin Tuchscherer and Maria Katharina Cromer (the great, great, great grandparents of the generation of Donald Wachtel b.1935). One child only is listed, Johannes Georg, but Johannes George made up for it by having 15 in the next generation. Lucky for us, the present day Wachtels, because we descend from child # 11, by second wife Katherina Reichert, John Tuchscherer.
This is a 2013 e-mail I received from Ursula Jenkins of the Birkenhoerdt Project in response to new and corrected info that I sent on our ancestors.

Hi Don,
Thank you very much for getting in touch and sharing all your wonderful family research. All will be visible when we update the online database again on Sunday. Dates and places of birth of living people will remain invisible until a death date is added. I've also correct your name.
I'm Ursula Jenkins née Müllecker - 969 in the database. I teach English & German as a foreign language at the community college in Emden, Germany. You and I are 9th cousins 2 times removed. Our closest common ancestors go back to the 1600s to Christoph Neuhardt and Margaretha Ostertag.
One of the main aims of this project has been to find the people who left the village
of Birkenhördt and surrounding villages within a 10-mile radius in southern Germany and northern France. The village of Birkenhördt had some records of emigration but was unable to find out anything about "their" relatives, friends and neighbours and how they fared after emigration. Thanks to a lot of descendants, like you, contributing, we've been able to put an extensive Birkenhoerdt family together online.
Thank you again.
Ursula

There is a genealogy connection between Eddie Wachtel thru his great aunt, Philomena Tuchscherer and Eddie's wife, Alice Kemper thru her mother, Josephine Paulin.
Philomena's son and daughter (George and Catherine Ubelhor) married Josephine Paulin's brother and sister, (Peter and Theresa Paulin.) A brother and sister Ubelhor married a brother and sister Paulin.
So our great uncles and aunts, Peter and Theresa Paulin and George and Catherine Ubelhor are also our 2nd cousins, twice removed.
A makeshift timeline drawing below.

A photo of the Ubelhor family but I do not know if any are the people in the drawing above but I suspect so.
