Courier Journal,Sunday, June 13, 1948 --- Mr. and Mrs. Grover Berry of West Point, Ky, announce the engagement of Mrs. (Nona Saffer) Berry's daughter, Miss Margaret "Pat" Leatherwood, to Mr. Richard K. Wachtel, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Wachtel of Shively. They will be married in St. Helen's Church July 3 at 4:30 p.m.
* I remember Pat speak often of her aunt, Mabel (Saffer) Miles - Don
Mabel Saffer (1908 - ? ), 20 married Burgess Miles (1905-1978), 22 on April 8, 1928 in Jeffersonville Indiana. (It was "easy" to get married in Jeff in those days). Burgess then lived in Kosmosdale and was an inspector at the cement plant there. In the 1930 census they were living at Lasalle Illinois, maybe because of his job. Later in the 30s and 40s, they lived on the east side of Dixie in Shively.
I think William (Bill) Leatherwood has died and Mary Sue Stamps is/was living near Atlanta.
